Travel with Friends

 

Do you love to explore new places and meet new people? The travel pathway may be just the thing for you! You can join other girls from around the council, around the country or around the world. If you are a Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie, or Junior you can take local or regional trips, day trips or spend one or two nights away with your troop leaders.

 

 

For Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors boundless adventures await in council sponsored travel events. Each year, GSMH will offer at least one chaperoned travel opportunity. GSMH has a three-year travel plan:

 

 

 

2016Savannah Bound: June 25-July 1, 2016. Come explore the birthplace of Girl Scouting! This trip will include visits to the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace, the Andrew Low House, and the First Girl Scout Headquarters. Girls will also explore Savannah and spend a day at Tybee Island. All girls must have completed 5th grade by the time of the trip, and leaders are welcome! Cost is $800 per girl/$900 per adult and includes all transportation by charter bus, hotel room with four girls or two adults in a room, breakfast and dinner, attractions, patches, and a trip t-shirt. Registration for this travel opportunity has closed. 

 

 

2017Texas Road Trip, July 9-14, 2017: Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes will explore three cities in the lone star state:  Dallas, Fort Worth, and Austin. Girls will experience big cites and the cowboy spirit. Trip will be by charter bus.  

 

Cost for girls is $750 and includes: transportation, hotel with four girls to a room, breakfast and dinner, entrance to attractions and trip t-shirt.  Cost for adults in $850 and includes: transportation, hotel room with two adults, breakfast and dinner, entrance to attractions and trip t-shirt. Registration deadline is January 17, 2017 with $100 deposit due. Balance in full is due June 9, 2017. Cookie Credit and Fall Funds can be used and financial assistance may be available. 

 

 

2017: National Girl Scout Convention, October 5-8, 2017 in Columbus, Ohio: Join thousands of your sister Girl Scouts from all over the world for this amazing event that only happens once every three years! The Convention will feature keynote speeches and panel discussions from a variety of inspirational, successful women, the Hall of Experiences full of hand-on activities, give-a-ways and information, and much more.  This year’s convention theme is: G.I.R.L 2017: Go-getter, Innovator, Risk Taker, Leader. New this year, National Girl Scout Convention is open to girl members of all ages! Program options will be available for girls in K-5 and 6-12 grades. Columbis is just a days' bus ride away and we want to fill a bus with Girl Scouts to take part in this amazing opportunity!

2018: Europe Trip-from London to Lucerne: Join us on this life- changing travel experience scheduled for July 6-16, 2018. Travelers will spend 11 days abroad visiting London, England, Paris, France, and Adelboden and Lucerne, Switzerland. This trip includes visits to two Girl Scout World Centers: Pax Lodge in London and Our Chalet in Adelboden. Girls must be 14 years of age by July 1, 2018 to attend the trip. Estimated cost is $4,500 per girl and includes airfare, hotel with four girls to a room, transportation on the trip, breakfast and dinner and most attraction admissions.  Estimated costs for adults is $4,700 and includes airfare, hotel with 2 adults to a room, transportation on the trip, breakfast and dinner and most attractions admission.

 

 

To register for the trip visit EF Tours and enter tour number 1754764JH.  A $95 non-refundable deposit is due at time of registration, with options for monthly payment or other payment arrangements.

 

 

New! Summer 2019: Costa Rica, Touch of the Tropics: Join us on a 9 day adventure hosted by EF Tours. Delve into an ecological paradise, walk amid lush rainforests and beneath towering volcanoes. Activities include kayaking, white water rafting, zip lining, visiting a local school, coffee plantations, hot springs, waterfalls and the Cloud Forest and going on a Crocodile River Tour.  

Estimated cost is between $2500 and $3000 and includes: airfare and transportation, hotels, all meals, entrance fees and a full-time tour director.  More details will be available soon!

Travel Chaperones Needed

 
We are looking for travel-savvy, girl-focused adults to serve as chaperones and first-aiders for our upcoming trips.  Chaperones must be 21 years of age or older and must complete the GSMH volunteer screening process. Costs for travel, lodging, and most meals and activities are provided by GSMH. Chaperones are expected to assist with the planning and preparation process for the trip, as well as ensuring that the girls have a safe and fun experience from departure to return; they share responsibility for helping to supervise the trip and its activities and are “on call” to respond to issues or concerns during the trip.  Apply today

GSUSA Destinations
 
 
The opportunities for Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors don’t end with the GSMH travel plan. You can apply to attend a GSUSA Destinations. These travel adventures range from two days to three weeks and whisk you away to the far corners of the earth. You’ll meet remarkable girls, develop leadership skills, gain confidence, and enjoy valuable learning opportunities. Destinations are trips of a lifetime! Council applications are due by November 15.
