Do you love to explore new places and meet new people? The travel pathway may be just the thing for you! You can join other girls from around the council, around the country or around the world. If you are a Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie, or Junior you can take local or regional trips, day trips or spend one or two nights away with your troop leaders.
For Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors boundless adventures await in council sponsored travel events. Each year, GSMH will offer at least one chaperoned travel opportunity. GSMH has a three-year travel plan:
2014: Chicago Adventure! Girl Scout Juniors (must have completed 4th grade and must travel with an adult chaperone) and Cadettes can join us for a five day, four night Chicago Adventure July 12-16, 2014. Activities will include visits to Shedds Aquarium, Field Museum, Navy Pier, and shopping on the Magnificent Mile. Other activities may include visiting the American Girl Place, the Art Institute of Chicago or a lake cruise, depending on the girls’ interests. Cost is $700 per person and includes transportation, hotel with four girls in a room or four adults in a room, breakfast, dinner, trip t-shirt and most attractions. Participants will be responsible for lunch each day and their spending money. Registration and $100 deposit deadline is January 4, 2014. A monthly payment plan is available with full balance due by June 30, 2014. Girls may use their cookie credit and financial assistance may be available.
You can also participate in the 53rd Girl Scouts of the USA National Girl Scout convention October 16-19 in Salt Lake City!
2015: From London to Lucerne. GSMH is taking girls on a once in a lifetime 10 day trip to Europe in July 2015! Destinations include London, Paris, two cities in Switzerland and two Girl Scout World Centers: Pax Lodge and Our Chalet. The trip is open to registered Girl Scouts who will be 14 by July 1, 2015. This is a guided trip through EF tours, a national touring company that specializes in youth trips. You will see amazing sites, world famous landmarks, taste new foods, and experience new cultures during this life changing trip! The total cost of this trip is $4450 for girls and $4845 for adults.
2016: This will be a national trip planned by a girl committee.

Travel Chaperones Needed
We are looking for travel-savvy, girl-focused adults to serve as chaperones and first-aiders for our upcoming trips. Chaperones must be 21 years of age or older and must complete the GSMH volunteer screening process. Costs for travel, lodging, and most meals and activities are provided by GSMH. Chaperones are expected to assist with the planning and preparation process for the trip, as well as ensuring that the girls have a safe and fun experience from departure to return; they share responsibility for helping to supervise the trip and its activities and are “on call” to respond to issues or concerns during the trip. Applications to chaperone any of the three trips listed above are due by January 4, 2014. Applicants may need to provide references and/or complete a brief interview. The opportunities for Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors don’t end with the GSMH travel plan. You can apply to attend a GSUSA destinations. These travel adventures range from two days to three weeks and whisk you away to the far corners of the earth. You’ll meet remarkable girls, develop leadership skills, gain confidence, and enjoy valuable learning opportunities. Destinations are trips of a lifetime! Council applications are due by November 15.
