Training and Event Opportunities

 

GSMH is committed to providing volunteers with quality recources, ideas, and support. Training courses are an integral part of that support; the trainings below are offered to all GSMH volunteers.

 

Prior to your first meeting:

  • Girl Scouting 101
  • Orientation (In person training scheduled upon approval as GSMH volunteer)

 

Within six months of appointment:

  • Grade Level Training (in person or home study)
  • Indoor Overnights & Day Trip Planning (home study)

 

Additional training as needed:

  • CPR/First Aid Training (in person, before troop does any traveling)
  • Outdoor Level 1 (home study)
  • Outdoor Level 2 (in person or test out)
  • Outdoor Level 3 (in person or test out)
  • Wilderness First Aid (in person)

On Request Trainings: 

GSMH schedules a variety of training dates and locations, but we know that volunteers may need additional options. GSMH offers the following trainings upon request:  

  • Orientation 
  • Grade Level Training
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Outdoor Level 2
  • Outdoor Level 3
  • Path to Silver / Path to Gold (for Girl Scout Cadettes and older)
  • Program Aide (for Girl Scout Cadettes and older)
  • Babysitting Training (for Girl Scout Juniors and older)

If training is needed in your area, please contact a leadership and learning specialist-volunteerism or 877-312-4764 with the following information:

  • Type/Name of training needed
  • Two to four possible dates (4 weeks in advance) with desired start/end times
  • Desired location (e.g., council property or community location; please provide an address)
  • Proposed registration deadline (this is sometimes at the discretion of the facilitator)
  • List of what participants need to bring (e.g., lawn chair if training is to be conducted outdoors)
  • Contact person (to answer questions)

 

You will be contacted with confirmation of the "on request" training, which will be advertised in council communications when possible. Training registration forms must still be submitted by the established deadline.
