Before Girl Scout cookies become available to everyone in the council area, GSMH hosts a Just Desserts fundraising event. The contest features professional chefs working with Girl Scout troops to create delicious treats featuring different varieties of Girl Scout cookies. Just Desserts benefits the financial assistance program at Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland.
This year’s event was held at Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau. Girl Scout cookie enthusiasts gathered on February 7 to taste the creations of local chefs paired with local Girl Scout troops and then vote for their favorite. It's safe to say that many a sweet tooth was sated at the event. You can try out and share the recipes yourself! Get the award-winning recipes yourself!
This year’s distinguished chefs included Nicole Huff from SugarBuzz Bakery, Palmi Henry from Lil Miss Muffin and Stuff Café, Keith Yonker from Chartwell’s, and Matt Wilson from West Bank Bistro. Faune Riggin, Raina Childers, Natalie Dowdy, Janice Collier, and Suzanne Vanderfeen were this year’s judges. Event sponsors included Southeast Health, Ameren, and Mississippi River Radio.
